AFL Goldfields Allowable Player Payments 2021

AFL Goldfields Allowable Player Payments for 2021

After consultation with member leagues affiliated to AFL Goldfields and with AFL Victoria, AFL Goldfields is pleased to be able to announce the Community Club Sustainability Program, Allowable Player Payment (APP) amounts for 2021.

The APP for each of the AFL Goldfields affiliated leagues will be;

            Ballarat FNL - $100,000

            Riddell DFNL - $85,000

            Central Highlands FL - $85,000

            Maryborough Castlemaine DFNL - $75,000

For each of the Ballarat FNL, Riddell DFNL and Central Highlands FL these amounts represent significant decreases of up to 29% on the amounts which their clubs had available in their planned APP for the 2020 season.

These decreases are reflective of the expected impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on a community football netball club to raise revenue in 2021 and potentially into 2022 and 2023.

Of particular importance these amounts bring each of these leagues to an APP which if not the same as neighbouring leagues much closer to the variance that existed in previous seasons.

The Maryborough Castlemaine DFNL remains the same as planned in 2020.

Due to neighbouring leagues to the MCDFNL remaining above $100,000 it was decided after consideration that the league APP needed to remain at the same level as in 2020 so that member clubs are not disadvantaged in their recruitment of players.

In all cases these APP amounts for clubs are the maximum which they are allowed to pay and it is certain that in all leagues there will be many clubs which will pay significantly lower than this maximum allowable figure.

Clubs will make their own decisions within their budget constraints as to what their player payment amount will be.

As in all years since the introduction of the AFL Victoria Community Club Sustainability Program clubs will be involved in a range of reporting and audit procedures to assist in the integrity of application of the program.
