AFL Goldfields Female Football Players included in NAB AFLW Academy

Two players from the AFL Goldfields Female Football league have been included in the prestigious NAB AFL Academy for 2021, Nyakoat Dojiok and Ella Friend.

Both have been members of the Lake Wendouree FNC with Nyakoat playing with the Lakies since 2017 at both U18 and senior level and Ella the one season in U18 since moving from the Wimmera FNL.

Nyakoat has been part of the AFL Victoria talent pathway program since 2017 when she played in the Western Bulldogs NGA V/Line Cup team in the Latrobe Valley. Then in 2018 and 2019 she was part of the GWV Rebels.

Ella is one year younger playing in the V/Line Cup competition in 2018 and graduated to the GWV Rebels in 2019.

As part of the NAB AFLW Academy each will be part of high level training camps and matches where they will be able to experience many development opportunities to prepare them for a possible AFLW career. Each of them will be given the opportunity to train with AFLW clubs whilst in the Academy.

It is outstanding that two players from the one club have been given the opportunity in the NAB AFLW Academy and is a great testament of the strength of the AFL Goldfields Female League which has been in place up until 2020 and the fine leadership of both it and the GWV Rebels Female program by former AFL Goldfields employee Krista Woodroffe.
