AFL Goldfields Indigenous Program aim to use football as a vehicle to promote a healthy lifestyle in indigenous communities. It is also driven to encourage indigenous boys and girls to take up football, and help the champions and future role models of tomorrow succeed in the AFL.
Our initiatives are designed to support indigenous & multicultural footballers where ever possible from their first taste of football in the NAB Auskick Program, right through until they reach senior competitions, whether that be at the elite or community level.
AFL Goldfields players have been actively involved in the Kick Start program. The Kick Start program is for U/15 boys who are looking to further their football and hoping to transition eventually into the TAC Cup competition. This program is about nurturing natural talent and creating young leaders in the process with a strong cultural identity.
AFL Goldfields have held Indigenous and Multicultural Luncheons where the contribution of Indigenous & Multicultural people in football has been recognised. AFL Goldfields have appointed Multicultural & Indigenous ambassadors who promote AFL in their communities.
AFL Goldfields has an appointed Indigenous & Multicultural Steering committee who look at various football initiatives which can be developed to further enhance AFL football in the various communities in the AFL Goldfields region.
