AFL Goldfields offers many opportunities for schools to become actively involved in AFL Footballing programs. The appointment of School Ambassadors in schools has been a great success. The ambassador’s role is to actively promote AFL Football within their school and they are the main point of contact for all football correspondence.
Many schools have signed up to the AFL Sport in Schools program where AFL Goldfields Game Development Officers have attended these schools to conduct footballing clinics with students at varying levels. These sessions are conducted across Term 2 & 3 of the school year.
AFL Goldfields conducts 2 x Primary School Football Lightening Premierships during the year, with one held at Vic Park in Ballarat with 30 x Primary Schools and the other held in Bacchus Marsh with 10 x Primary Schools.
Many schools within the AFL Goldfields region are provided with opportunities throughout each year to have AFL players visit their school and conduct clinics and speak to the students. This has been a great success in recent times with Western Bulldogs, Carlton and Essendon players all visiting Primary & Secondary Schools in the region.
Schools within the AFL Goldfields region participate in the following state wide footballing carnivals:
